Otus Interior Design was invited to collaborate with Nicholas Hollinshead of The Interior Consultant on a full-scale refurbishment of The Clifton Hotel, a traditional Victorian hotel in Folkestone dating back to 1864. This historic property required a sensitive yet transformative approach to elevate its interior spaces while retaining its period character.
Hotel Bedroom Redesign
The project began with the complete redesign of all four floors of guest bedrooms. Each level was styled differently, giving each floor its own identity and offering guests a distinct experience depending on where they stayed.
All rooms were reconfigured to create larger, more luxurious layouts, maximising comfort and spatial efficiency. The bathroom areas were also fully modernised, reflecting contemporary hospitality standards while complementing the building's heritage.
This phase of the project focused on enhancing the overall guest experience while ensuring the interior design respected the hotel's original architectural charm.
Reception Area
The redesign of the hotel reception area has now been completed. The goal was to create a welcoming and functional first impression for guests arriving at this historic property.
Bar Area
The bar area was also fully redesigned and is now complete. The refurbishment brought updated aesthetics and a refined atmosphere suitable for both locals and visitors staying at the hotel in Folkestone.
